why miura?

Miura’s management team has a combined experience of more than 50 years in natural resource extraction and commodities trading, in various geographies like Indonesia, India, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Key personnel bring with them work experience in organizations like Glencore International AG, ABN-AMRO Bank, Ernst & Young, Pertamina (National Oil Company) and Humpuss Group of Indonesia.

PT Miura Indonesia Resources is distinctive for the caliber of its management team, which has a unique understanding not just of the opportunities that Indonesia’s mineral resource sector provides, but also the challenges faced by companies that seek to utilize them. Our extensive presence on the ground in Indonesia, coupled with our embedded relationships with the various stakeholders in the country’s mineral resources ecosystem enables us to navigate these challenges and maximize these opportunities. Our network of relationships with producers, buyers (both domestic and abroad), federal and provincial regulators, customs and local authorities, village communities in and around areas of operations, barge owners and jetty operators makes us ideally placed to seamlessly move commodities from mine to market.

We understand the expectations of end users in China, India, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and other coal consuming markets. We are also aware of the perspective of traders in Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Zug and Geneva. Furthermore, we understand the needs and constraints of miners in South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and Sumatra. Ultimately, we serve as a bridge between these diverse participants, enabling the movement of coal from where it is produced to where it is needed most.

We have a presence on the ground in South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan, constantly evaluating new and reliable sources of supply.

trading capabilities

South Kalimantan

We source coal from small and mid-sized mines located in Binuang, Sungai Danau and Asam-Asam, all well-known coal producing areas in South Kalimantan.

We also have a strategic partnership and dedicated space at a stockyard near Talenta Bumi jetty, in the Barito Kuala regency in South Kalimantan. The 6-acre stockyard is 40 kms. from Talenta Bumi jetty, giving us Optionality in supplying mid CV coals (3400 GAR – 4200 GAR) to vessels loading from the Taboneo anchorage.

East Kalimantan

Supply areas include mines in Penajam, Samarinda, Kutai Barat and Kutai Kartanegara, prodigious coal producing areas in East Kaimantan.

captive mining

PT Miura Indonesia Resources is also actively developing its own mines in East Kalimantan. A 4200 GAR concession in Penajam Paser and a mid CV 5500 GAR concession are at various stages of development. First production from our own mines is expected in late 2020.
